Everything you want to know about the 2024 Honda Prologue including range

The 2024 Honda Prologue is Honda’s first all-electric SUV and is set to be a significant addition to Honda’s SUV lineup when it arrives on the market next year. With an anticipated range of over 450 kilometres per EPA rating, the Prologue combines eco-friendliness with a spacious and adventure-ready design. Positioned as a midsize SUV, it promises a blend of fun-to-drive dynamics and generous interior space. Pre-sales are starting with an expected mid-$60,000s MSRP, and first deliveries are planned for Spring 2024 in Quebec. Here is everything you want to know about the impressive new 2024 Honda Prologue.

Electric Powertrain

At the heart of the Prologue is a state-of-the-art electric powertrain. It features a dual-motor setup providing all-wheel drive, engineered to deliver a sporty driving experience, remarkable stability and control, and great performance. The powertrain is expected to generate about 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque, ensuring responsive and quick acceleration. This engine will deliver the power buyers want in their next SUV, but with the added benefits of electrification. Electric powertrains deliver their power to the road more efficiently and almost instantaneously. When you touch the accelerator in the Prologue, you will notice an immediate reaction, creating a smooth overall experience that inspires confidence.

Impressive Range and Charging

The Prologue boasts an impressive EPA-estimated range of over 450 kilometres on a full charge, positioning it as a practical choice for both city driving and longer journeys while also making it a standout in its segment. Its 85-kWh lithium-ion battery supports DC fast charging, capable of recharging over 100 kilometres of range in approximately 10 minutes. This fast-charging capability, along with the extensive charging network plans, significantly enhances the Prologue’s appeal for long-distance travel and convenience.

Spacious and Versatile

Honda’s Prologue offers a roomy and versatile interior, with the longest wheelbase in its class. Larger than a CR-V and about the same size as the gas-powered Honda Passport, the new Prologue promises impressive versatility to go along with its advanced electric powertrain. The interior is designed for comfort and usability, featuring a two-tiered center console with class-leading storage capacity and a flexible multi-use tray. The vehicle seats five comfortably and offers up to 714 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, expandable to 1,634 litres with folded seatbacks. The Prologue’s design and dimensions promise ample space for passengers and cargo alike.

Advanced Technology

The 2024 Honda Prologue is not just an electric SUV but also a technological showcase, particularly in its integration of Google's digital services and electric vehicle-specific adaptations.

  • Integration of Google Built-In: The Prologue is Honda's first SUV to feature Google built-in as a standard across all trims. This integration includes access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and a range of applications available on Google Play, directly accessible through the vehicle's infotainment system.

  • Digital Displays: The vehicle boasts two high-definition digital screens. The 11-inch digital instrument display provides critical driving information, while the 11.3-inch HD touchscreen is the main interface for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings.

Google Maps for Electric Vehicles

The integration of Google Maps is particularly noteworthy for its electric vehicle-specific functionalities. It offers advanced route planning, including the recommendation of charging stations along the route. This feature is vital for long-distance travel in an electric vehicle, as it helps drivers plan their journeys with charging stops in mind, ensuring they always have enough range to reach their destination.

Additionally, Google Maps can estimate the charging time required to reach a particular destination. This integration is further enhanced with a battery preconditioning feature. When a DC fast-charging station is set as a destination in Google Maps, the system can automatically initiate battery preconditioning. This process adjusts the battery temperature for optimal charging efficiency, reducing the overall charging time and ensuring the battery is in the best condition for fast charging upon arrival.

  • User Interface Design: To ensure ease of use while driving, the touchscreen incorporates a finger rest. This thoughtful design allows the driver to steady their hand for precise control over the touchscreen, enhancing safety and convenience.

  • Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates: The Prologue benefits from Honda's commitment to OTA software updates. These updates ensure that key vehicle computer modules, including the infotainment and navigation systems, remain up-to-date with the latest functionalities and improvements.

  • Sound System: The higher trims, like the EX-L and Touring, feature a bespoke Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers. This system has been engineered exclusively for the Prologue, providing a clear and powerful audio experience for all occupants, irrespective of their seating position.

Versions and Features

The Prologue will be offered in three trim levels – EX, EX-L, and Touring, each equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of safety technologies. The EX model features black and charcoal cloth upholstery, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and 19-inch wheels. The EX-L adds leather seating, memory driver seat, and parking assist. The Touring model includes perforated leather seats, front ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, 21-inch wheels, and more. Each trim level is designed to offer a unique balance of features and comfort, catering to a range of preferences and needs.
