2022 Honda Civic vs. 2022 Mazda3: In a class of its own

2022 Honda Civic vs. 2022 Mazda3: In a class of its own

In the compact car category, there is no shortage of interesting candidates. With the Mazda3 2022 and the Honda Civic 2022, there are two that have little to envy their rivals.

However, one manages to rise above the other, simply because it does better in all areas. It is, of course, the Honda Civic. Let's take a look at some of the elements that allow us to make such a statement.

The interior

Mazda offers a quality environment inside, but the presentation remains simplistic. Worse, the brand's new multimedia system, while offering more functions than before, is no more user-friendly than the old one. At Honda, it's a different experience with a presentation that's visually appealing and a multimedia interface that's a breeze to use. It's night and day.

Then, one last point of importance. With the hatchback version of the Mazda3, rearward visibility is atrocious and blind spot monitoring is nearly impossible. We don't have this problem with the 5-door version of the Civic. This is a major safety issue.

Choice and sportiness

Both Honda and Mazda offer an interesting choice with the Civic and the 3. The basic versions are similar, but it's when you climb up the range that you notice the differences.

Mazda offers a Sport version of its Mazda3, but it doesn't really offer any more sportiness in terms of driving. With Honda, two models are designed to offer more to enthusiasts: the Si variant and the Type R. In these two cases, the driving experience of the models really puts us in the heart of the action and delivers an experience that we don't find with the sportier versions of the Mazda3.

Residual value

Finally, one of the elements that allows us to really measure the value of a vehicle is the depreciation it suffers during its first years on the market. This is the ultimate report card for a vehicle.

At Mazda, the 3 loses about 25% of its value in its first three years on the road. With the Civic, the drop is 20%. This gap, of course, widens over the years, so if you own a six or seven year old Honda Civic, you're going to get more out of it than you would out of a similarly aged Mazda when you resell.

The Honda Civic is in a class of its own in its class and across the industry. To see just how good it is, don't hesitate to come and see us to discover it and take it for a test drive.
