With the new 2023 Honda CR-V, we're going to enjoy a variant that had been reserved for the American market until now. We named the hybrid variant that makes its debut here for the new year.
Everything about it is interesting, because it will allow enthusiasts to enjoy the best of both worlds. Here's what you need to know about it.
Two variants
In all, the CR-V will be offered with four trim levels. Two of these will be hybrids, the Sport and Sport Touring models. They'll be easy to recognize, as they'll offer distinct, but more importantly, more aggressive styling. Gone are the days when it could be embarrassing to drive a hybrid model. This distinction will come in the form of more aggressive bumper designs, while a closer look at the model's nose will reveal a more massive grille. The presence will therefore be stronger with a hybrid model.
The wheels are 18 inches with the first model and 19 inches with the second.
Powertrain
This more aggressive style will also translate into more convincing performance on the road. Basically, the model's 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine, which gets direct injection this year, will offer 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive will also be included, and while the front wheels are prioritized in normal driving, up to 50 percent of the torque can be sent to the rear if there is slippage up front.
As for average fuel consumption, it's announced at 5.9 L/100 km, which is extraordinary.
Another interesting piece of information is that while it was never really recommended to tow with a hybrid model, it will be possible to do so with small loads with this 2023 CR-V hybrid. Honda sets the bar at 1000 pounds.
As for the rest, it's a proudly equipped model that will be coming to us, whether it's in terms of technology with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless apps, as well as a nine-inch screen for the multimedia system.
