The 2023 Honda CR-V introduced to the market this week was one of the most anticipated new compact sport utility vehicles to arrive this year. There had been many rumours about what we would see on the new CR-V and ultimately, they mostly proved to be true. The new generation of the CR-V will offer a hybrid powertrain, more space than the outgoing model, and it provides more technology, specifically new safety, connectivity, and comfort technology. Here are three of the most noteworthy new features added to the 6th generation of the CR-V
A new hybrid powertrain
Honda has been very vocal about its objective of increasing its market share of hybrid and electric vehicles in the next two years. Honda hopes that 50% of CR-V sales will be electrified, and the new hybrid powertrain offered in the CR-V has everything needed to achieve that goal. It is a combination of a 4-cylinder gas engine with an Atkinson cycle paired with two electric motors for a total output of 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. This is the latest generation of the hybrid system from Honda and according to the Japanese manufacturer, it will average less than 6 L per 100 km. That could make the CR-V hybrid the most efficient hybrid compact SUV on the market.
More interior space
The 2023 Honda CR-V will be even more spacious than the previous generation which was already one of the most welcoming compact SUVs in its class. There is an additional 15.2 mm of rear legroom, and the rear seats can recline 8 degrees. Moreover, the 2023 CR-V gets a new adjustable load floor for the cargo area which makes it possible to adjust cargo capacity by about 100 L. Total cargo capacity is rated at over 2,100 litres, making the CR-V one of the most spacious vehicles in its class.
More technology
The 2023 Honda CR-V gets a wide range of new technology features including a new standard 7-inch touchscreen as well as an available 9-inch HD touchscreen. The standard Honda Sensing safety system now features a new wide view camera and radar as well as new Traffic Jam Assist, low speed braking control, and Traffic Sign Recognition. Moreover, the new CR-V gets the next generation of front and lateral airbags from Honda as well as a new standard knee and rear passenger side impact airbag.
These are just some of the features that help the 2023 Honda CR-V stand out. Give us a call today to learn more about the new CR-V which arrives this summer.
