Honda Dominates the Most Recent ALG Rankings on Resale Values

For the third year in a row, Honda ranks first amongst mainstream brands in terms of residual value in ALG’s latest rankings. In addition, the Civic, the Accord, the Passport, and the CR-V have won their respective categories, meaning they are expected to retain more of their value after three years than their competitors. Here are some of the reasons behind these results.

A commitment to quality

Honda has built its reputation over the years by offering affordable and efficient models that are engineered and manufactured to a higher standard than competing models. This is still true today, and you can feel this commitment to quality simply by looking at or sitting in any Honda vehicle. This quality can be seen in the design of the various controls, which all fall readily to hand, or the feel of the materials, which don’t give the impression that they are going to break if you push them too hard. The same goes for the powertrains, which are engineered to provide years of trouble-free driving, in addition to an impressive level of fuel efficiency and a higher level of driver enjoyment than in most competing vehicles.

Evolutive changes

Another reason that explains why Honda models tend to keep their value for longer is that the company prefers evolution to revolution when it comes time to refresh its models. Indeed, while Honda is known to come out with refreshed and refined new models every few years, it does so in a way that doesn’t immediately make the previous generation feel old hat and outdated. This means that you can buy any new 2024 Honda model without having to think about whether a new generation is about to come out and thus tank your car’s value.

A great value

New Honda vehicles offer a great value for your money, despite not necessarily being the most affordable in their segments. Indeed, this is because the supplement you will pay at purchase over a comparably equipped model from another manufacturer will be paid out when it comes time to sell your Honda, as it will have retained a greater percentage of its initial value. Considering this, Honda vehicles actually represent a better deal than you might have thought by looking only at the window sticker.

All of the latest technologies

New Honda vehicles are also equipped with most of the latest driver assistance and infotainment technologies, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and large digital displays. This means that they are still very modern and relevant many years after they have left the factory, which makes them very desirable on the pre-owned market, another factor that contributes to keeping residual values high.
