2023 Honda CR-V Gets Improved Safety Features: Here's What You Need to Know

The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V has been completely redesigned, and with that redesign comes a number of new safety features. Let's discuss some of the most important safety improvements made to the Honda CR-V. These include an updated collision avoidance system, Honda's new ACE chassis and an upgraded lane departure warning system. Let's dive in!

Let's start with the new application of Honda’s Advance Compatibility Engineering (ACE) chassis structure reinforced for 2023 on the CR-V. Honda first introduced this chassis with the 2006 model year Honda Civic. The idea behind ACE is to dissipate crash energy more evenly throughout the vehicle's front structure in a frontal collision. This helps to protect the passenger compartment and occupants by absorbing and redirecting crash energy away from them. The result is improved safety for all passengers in a Honda CR-V.

The all-new 2023 CR-V also features rear passenger and knee airbags that now come standard. This is in addition to the standard front, side, and curtain airbags on the Honda CR-V. The rear airbags are designed to protect passengers in the event of a rear impact collision, while the knee airbags help protect occupants' legs and knees from injuries in a frontal collision. The driver-side airbag is also designed with a unique ring-shaped pattern to better control the head and neck in a collision.

Next up is the Honda CR-V's updated collision avoidance system. This system uses a combination of radar and cameras to detect and avoid potential collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. The system can even automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. This is a big improvement over the previous Honda CR-V, which only had a camera-based collision avoidance system.

Finally, the Honda CR-V's lane departure warning system has been updated for 2023. This system uses a combination of cameras and sensors to detect when the vehicle is veering out of its lane. If it detects that the vehicle is veering, it will provide an audible and visual warning to the driver. The system can even apply corrective steering if needed to help keep the vehicle in its lane.

These are just some of the new safety features available on the 2023 Honda CR-V. As you can see, Honda has significantly improved the safety of its popular SUV. The 2023 CR-V should definitely be on your list if you're in the market for a new SUV. Contact us for more information.
