What to Expect from the 2024 Honda Prologue?

The 2024 Honda Prologue is gearing up to be a notable addition to the electric vehicle market. This all-new, fully-electric SUV from Honda promises a harmonious blend of design and functionality.

Dimensions and Design

Dimensionally aligning closer to the mid-sized Passport, the Prologue seeks to establish its own identity within Honda's SUV family, placing itself above the CR-V. Its exterior aesthetic leans towards subtle sophistication, steering clear of overt flamboyance. The interior resonates with familiar Honda design elements: an upright tablet-like infotainment screen, a neatly arranged dashboard, and a center console devoid of unnecessary clutter.

Electrical Architecture and Range

Underpinning the Prologue is a modern electric platform, boasting 800 volts of capability. This setup not only facilitates swift charging – with a potential DC fast charging rate peaking at 190 kW – but also promises an impressive range. Preliminary indications suggest the vehicle might comfortably cover over 450 km on a single charge, with certain variants potentially pushing that boundary closer to, if not beyond, 500 km.

Connectivity and In-Vehicle Tech

Honda is taking a significant leap in in-car connectivity with the Prologue. This SUV is set to be the pioneer Honda model to feature Google built-in, a feature first seen on the 2023 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid. This integrated system brings together a suite of Google services, from the Google Assistant to Google Maps, and a range of apps via Google Play.

Speaking on this digital integration, Steve Hui, Assistant Vice President of Honda Canada, commented on the enhanced ownership experience that the Prologue seeks to offer. Emphasizing the significance of these tech collaborations, he noted that contemporary consumers prioritize such digital services when choosing a new vehicle.

One of the standout features is the Google Maps functionality tailored for EVs. It provides optimized route suggestions that incorporate charging station stops to reduce overall travel time. Furthermore, the system can estimate the required charging duration to reach a destination and even prime the EV battery for fast charging when it detects an impending stop at a DC Fast charging station. Such battery preconditioning can expedite charging, ensuring minimal interruptions to one's journey.

To complement the Google suite, the Prologue will also feature an expansive 11-inch digital driver display, a sizable 11.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless compatibility for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™, and Honda's debut pocket-type wireless smartphone charger. For those who prioritize an immersive auditory experience, the vehicle will offer an optional 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, and drivers can benefit from the added visibility of a 7x3-inch head-up display.

In conclusion, the 2024 Honda Prologue appears set to enrich the electric SUV segment with its combination of design, range, and advanced tech features. As more details emerge, prospective buyers and automotive enthusiasts alike will be keenly watching.
