The Technologies that Improve the Fuel Economy in the 2023 Honda HR-V

The 2023 Honda HR-V is a very efficient sub-compact SUV that maximizes every drop of fuel by using many advanced technologies.

The CVT transmission

The 2023 Honda HR-V is equipped with a new CVT transmission that has been improved over the one found in the previous generation of the HR-V. This not only benefits the performance and the refinement of the powertrain but also its efficiency. This is because a CVT transmission can keep the engine turning at its most efficient speed at all times, irrespective of the vehicle speed. To do so, it employs infinitely variable ratios that can be changed at any time without requiring a pause in the delivery of engine power. This allows the HR-V to be more responsive and more efficient than competing vehicles equipped with a conventional automatic transmission.

The adaptive cruise control with Low-Speed Follow

The 2023 Honda HR-V can be equipped with adaptive cruise control with Low-Speed Follow, which is a technology that helps save fuel in addition to making highway drives more enjoyable. By keeping a set distance behind the car in front, this system smooths out speed variations, which makes for a more efficient driving pattern. The same can be said of the low-speed following function, which makes it possible to gently accelerate and decelerate in heavy traffic instead of accelerating quickly and then having to brake hard. Even when there is not a car to follow in front, the adaptive cruise control saves fuel by maintaining a set speed at all times, which is more efficient than the slight speed variations that occur when manually controlling the accelerator.

The ECON mode

The 2023 Honda HR-V benefits from three drive modes in order to better suit every driver and every driving situation. The ECON mode allows for the most efficient driving style by making the accelerator pedal less sensitive in order to promote smoother accelerations and starts, as well as making the transmission move to lower ratios in order to keep the engine speed down during driving at any speed.
