Five Reasons to Buy a 2024 Honda Pilot Instead of a 2024 Kia Telluride

Five Reasons to Buy a 2024 Honda Pilot Instead of a 2024 Kia Telluride

The SUV market is a very competitive one, and good options in the midsize segment abound. Nevertheless, the 2024 Honda Pilot manages to stand out from the crowd due to its modern design, clever use of space, and advanced technologies. While one of its main competitors, the 2024 Kia Telluride, is also a compelling option, the Pilot comes out on top as you can see here:

1- Better fuel efficiency: The 2024 Honda Pilot is more fuel efficient than the 2024 Kia Telluride despite being slightly larger and just as powerful. Indeed, the standard 3.5L V6 engine in the Pilot delivers 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque via a very advanced 10-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system. While the 3.8L V6 used in the 2024 Kia Telluride does offer six more horsepower than the Pilot as well as the same torque output, this small difference is negated by Kia’s use of an older 8-speed transmission that can’t provide the same level of responsiveness as the Honda unit. This leads to a lower combined average fuel consumption of 11,0 L/100 km in the Pilot compared to 11,7 L/100 km in the Telluride.

2- More technology in the Pilot: The 2024 Honda Pilot benefits from more advanced features and technologies than the 2024 Kia Telluride. Indeed, the Honda comes standard with items such as Active Noise Cancellation, ambient lighting around the cabin, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and a power passenger seat. Available features that aren’t found in the Telluride include a premium Bose sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear camera washers, and Traffic Jam Assist.

3- Competitive pricing: There was a time when Kia vehicles were significantly more affordable than their competitors despite having a similar level of equipment, but this is not the case anymore. Indeed, the 2024 Honda Pilot and the 2024 Kia Telluride are priced within a thousand dollars of each other all the way from the entry-level version to the top-of-the-line models. This means that Kia’s traditional value proposition is not a factor here since the Pilot benefits from largely the same list of features as the Telluride when comparing similarily priced models. Furthermore, the fully-equipped Kia actually ends up being slightly more expensive than the equivalent Pilot.

4- More interior space in the Pilot: The Honda Pilot has always been known for its impressive packaging and interior space, and this is still true in 2024. Indeed, the Pilot is significantly larger inside than the Telluride, both in terms of passenger and cargo space. Highlights include a third row that is more comfortable in the Pilot due to more generous legroom, shoulder room, and headroom. In addition, the Pilot is capable of transporting more cargo than the Telluride in any cabin configuration, with an impressive maximum capacity of 3,219 litres behind the front row, compared to 2,455 litres in the Kia.

5- A more modern design from Honda: The 2024 Honda Pilot is more modern than the 2024 Kia Telluride in terms of design and conception since it has received a full makeover just last year. Don’t be mistaken, the 2024 Kia Telluride is still an attractive vehicle, but its design is starting to age since it goes all the way back to 2020. A light refresh for 2023 helped it stay relevant, but it can’t hide its origins. In the case of the Honda Pilot, last year’s refresh was a complete redesign and this model doesn’t owe anything in terms of style to its predecessor, fitting in nicely with the rest of Honda’s recently modernized SUV lineup.

As you can see, the 2024 Honda Pilot is a better choice than the 2024 Kia Telluride for a number of reasons.
