Choosing between the 2023 Honda Pilot and 2023 Honda Passport

Choosing between the 2023 Honda Pilot and 2023 Honda Passport

The SUV market is ever-expanding, and Honda is keeping up with the trends by introducing the 2023 Honda Passport and the 2023 Honda Pilot. Both vehicles are designed to cater to the needs of families who require comfortable and spacious vehicles for their daily commute and occasional adventures. However, choosing between the two models can be a daunting task, especially if you're unsure of what separates them. In this article, we'll delve into the differences and similarities between the two models to help you determine which is right for you.

Exterior and Interior Dimensions

One of the most significant differences between the 2023 Honda Passport and the 2023 Honda Pilot is their exterior and interior dimensions. While both SUVs are categorized as midsize, they have different interior and exterior dimensions.

The 2023 Honda Pilot offers three rows of seating, which can accommodate up to eight passengers, while the Passport can seat up to five passengers. This difference is due to the Pilot's extra row of seats, which improves its passenger-carrying capabilities.

The Pilot can carry more passengers, and it also has more cargo space. The 2023 Honda Passport offers 1,430 liters of cargo space behind the second row, which can be expanded to 2,854 liters when the second row is folded down. The Pilot, on the other hand, offers 1,685 liters of cargo space behind the second row, which can be expanded to 3,166 liters when both the second and third rows are folded down. Therefore, if you're looking for more cargo space, the Pilot is the better option.

On the other hand, the 2023 Passport is the most spacious two-row midsize SUV in its segment, offering considerably more interior space than the Toyota Venza, Ford Edge, or Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. In other words, you can’t go wrong with either model if space is important to you, but the Pilot has the edge.

Power and Performance

Both the 2023 Honda Pilot and the 2023 Honda Passport come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. However, the Passport's engine produces 280 horsepower, while the Pilot's engine produces 285 horsepower. That said, the power difference is negligible as both SUVs have a similar performance. Additionally, both SUVs come with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which provides a smooth experience and improved fuel efficiency.

Price Comparison

Price is a crucial factor to consider when choosing between the 2023 Honda Pilot and the 2023 Honda Passport. The Passport is the more affordable of the two SUVs, with the base trim starting at $49,205, which is significantly lower than the Pilot's base trim, which starts at $52,765.

The Passport's top trim, the Touring, has a selling price of $55,905, while the Pilot's top trim, the Black Edition, has a selling price of $64,965.

Ultimately, the 2023 Honda Passport and the 2023 Honda Pilot are designed to cater to different customer needs. If you prioritize cargo space, the Pilot is the better option as it offers more cargo space than the Pilot. Moreover, if require a three-row SUV, the Pilot is the more suitable option as it offers spacious passenger accommodations and an extra row of seating. Additionally, the Pilot has been recently redesigned which means it comes with a bit more features than the Pilot.

On the other hand, Passport starts at a lower price than the Pilot, it has a more rugged design, and it features impressive versatility itself. You really can’t go wrong with either model, and ultimately it will all come down to individual preferences.
